Since when have Jews
lived in Germany
Illuminiertes Modell
Jüdisches Museum Berlin
Fertigstellung: 2020
The exhibit consists of a relief map of Europe and the Mediterranean region and tells the story of when Jews came to Germany. Full-surface projections on the relief model are used to begin with the history of Jewish settlement in ancient times. This is followed by depictions of the first diaspora communities after the Roman occupation and the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. Jewish communities then emerged along Roman trade routes in Western Europe and Germany. The first textual references to Jews in Cologne date from around the year 321.
